Yukimi Gata, Japanese Antique Metal Lantern
Item description - YO23010026
The Yukimi lantern is without a doubt the most popular Japanese lantern that is relatively close to the ground. Yukimi (雪見) is Japanese for seeing snow. The name is based on the fact that the Kasa (傘) or umbrella of the lantern is covered with snow during the cold Winter days. This is easier to see compared to most other lanterns as the Yukimi is closer to the ground. This is why the Yukimi lantern is also known as the snow lantern.

This historical family ruled Japan right before the start of the Edo period with its leader Toyotomi Hideyoshi. A very famous figure in Japanese history who is considered one of the three great unifiers of Japan together with Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu.
