Ryu Kakejiku, Authentic Japanese Scroll - Since old times, Japanese homes have always been very minimalistic in their aesthetics, with few pieces of furniture and decorations. When it comes to wall decorations however, there is one prominent exception with hanging scrolls known in Japanese as Kakejiku (掛け軸). There is a wide range of depictions that are the subject of these traditional scrolls such as landscapes, holy imagery, animals, and texts in calligraphy style.
The text on this scroll reads: Umi hiroku shite ryū ginzureba kumo okori,yama takaku shite tora usobukeba kaze shōzu.(海闊くして龍吟ずれば雲起こり、山高くして虎嘯けば風生ず。). This can be translated as: When the sea is vast, the dragon sings and clouds arise, when the mountain is high, the tiger roars and wind is born.
