This traditional Japanese vase is known as Mikazuki Kabin (三日月花瓶), and is shaped like a crescent moon. The vase was made especially for Ikebana, Japanese style flower arrangements, and can be hanged using a monkey shaped ornament.
The moon is part of many different Japanese legends and is seen as a symbol of enlightenment in Japanese culture.
