Mikage Ishibashi, Stone Bridge
Item description - YO04020001
Mikage Ishibashi, Stone Bridge - The garden bridge became one of the most significant parts of the traditional Japanese garden during the Heian period (794-1185). The philosophy behind the garden bridge is that it symbolizes the crossing between the mortal world and the afterlife. It allows one to rid oneself of worldly burdens and experience inner piece, purity and becoming one with nature.
This bridge is hand carved from granite, Mikage-ishi (御影石) in Japanese. It will fit perfectly in any garden and can be placed over streams, ditches and even dry rivers of pebble stones, famous for its usage in Karesansui gardens. The bridge can serve as a purely aesthetic element, but it can of course also be used as a regular bridge.
