This is where the name Tsuridōrō (釣り灯籠) comes from, which roughly translates to hanging lantern. There are multiple methods to fix the light inside the lantern. This particular Tsuridōrō is decorated with bamboo on all sides. This appearance formed the inspiration for the name Chikurin (竹林), which is Japanese for Bamboo thicket.
