A traditional Nobedan path (延段行) is created with a special method that puts different stones in various sizes together. These characteristic paths can be seen in many of the wonderful tea gardens that Japan has to offer. Many different stones can be used to create a Nobedan path like rectangular stones, mixed stones, round stones or a combination of different kinds of stones. The open spaces in between the different stones show intriguing shadows that give the Nobedan paths fantastic aesthetic value.
