Japanese Antique Metal Lantern, Yukimi
The Yukimi lantern is without a doubt the most popular Japanese lantern that is relatively close to the ground. Yukimi (雪見) is Japanese for seeing snow. The name is based on the fact that the Kasa (傘) or umbrella of the lantern is covered with snow during the cold Winter days. This is easier to see compared to most other lanterns as the Yukimi is closer to the ground. This is why the Yukimi lantern is also known as the snow lantern.
This antique metal Yukimi lantern has a very rustic appearance. It consists of five separate parts which together form a balanced whole.
