Oribe Gata Lantern - 0101-0039
The Oribe Japanese stone lantern. All parts are rectungular in shape. This is the most common type of buried lantern. Master of Japanese tea ceremony Furuta Oribe, also known as Furuta Shigenari loved this lantern and gave the lantern her name. Additionally some people call these Chiristian lanterns because of a christian like symbol carved at the bottom of the post. Not all Oribe feature the Christian symbol.
